Signal output from growth control module toggles phenazine signaling co-cultures in LB media. PH04 pZE-phzAG-ptsH and PH04 pZE-phzMS were co-cultured together in M9 media with the initial inoculation ratios, as indicated. Population A contains pZE-phzAG-ptsH and exhibits AI-1 modulated growth rate. One hour after inoculation, the indicated concentration of AI-1 was added. The cultures were grown overnight. Subsequently, CM samples were collected and PYO activity was tested using the fluorescent reporter assay in LB media (see Methods). Error bars represent s.d. of technical duplicates
